CS-3: Adoption of the Zero Emissions - Zero Waste Environmental Program
Recommendation: To adopt the follow elements of the Cooperation Jackson Environmental Sustainability Plan in
the following areas.
- Weatherization and Energy Efficiency Retrofitting
- Solar-Thermal Energy Production
- Zero Emissions Fleet
- Expandable and Sustainable Public Transportation
- Comprehensive Recycling
- Comprehensive Composting
- Comprehensive Oil Reuse
Weatherization and Energy Efficiency Retrofitting
Retrofit and weatherize all buildings to conserve heat in the winter and naturally cool facilities in the summer.
Solar-Thermal Energy Production
Outfit buildings and facilities with energy saving solar panels, including the installation of solar-thermal converters in facilities to regulate energy use.
Encourage private solar thermal energy conversion and production to enable citizens and businesses to supply excess energy to the main power grids to decrease demand for fossil fuels.
Zero-Emissions Government Fleet
Transition of entire government operating fleet to electric vehicles.
Create incentives to purchase electric cars and create the requisite number of publicly owned and operated electric fueling stations to facilitate the transition.
Expand Sustainable Transportaion
